The Australian Workforce and Productivity Agency and the nation’s Industry Skills Councils together held a national industry focused conference: “The Future of Work – Developing Australia’s Workforce in a Global Economy” in Melbourne this week. The event was aimed at promoting dialogue and debate with the view to raise the profile on the challenges and solutions to issues around workforce development as we navigate the ‘Asian Century’.
ACTU President Ged Kearney was there to ensure workers’ voices were heard in the debate. Catherine Zengerer spoke to her just after the conference to find out what the challenges are when it comes to creating an Australian workforce that is globally competitive.[audio https://czengerer.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/ged.mp3]
