A long-running stoush between protesters and a resources company in NSW has come to an end, at least for now. Metgasco’s licence to drill gas at its Bentley site has been suspended after the state government found the company had failed to consult the community. Protesters are overjoyed by the decision, hoping it will end coal seam gas exploration in the area once and for all. But this is not just a David and Goliath story. NSW Energy and Resources Minister Anthony Roberts has referred Metgasco to the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) after receiving information about its shareholdings and interests.
